Singleplayer modifikace
Quake1 má už nějakej ten pátek za sebou a různých modifikací existuji stovky. Od malých addonů obsahujících třeba jen jedno kolo, až po rozsáhle modifikace, které se svým rozsahem blíží délce původní hry. (i když?.tohle je relativní pojem, protože kdyby vás to zajímalo, tak světový rekord na dohrání Quake1 na obtížnost nightmare je kolem 13 minut). Během tohoto roku postupně vznikl nejobsáhlejší registr prakticky všech sinleplayer levelů, které pro Quake1 kdy vzniky. A to včetně stručného popisu a funkčního linku pro download. Archiv najdete na quaddicted.com. Cokoliv s ratingem nice a excellent je o dost lepší než původní hra. Ale abyste netápali naslepo uvedu aspoň pár těch nejlepších.
Jak to spustit?
Pokud je celý mod pouze jedna nebo více úrovní, tak ho tvoří jeden soubor nebo více souborů s příponou bsp. Takový mod přidává do hry jen nová kola ? vše ostatní zůstává jako v původní hře - nepřátelé, zbraně?.v tomto směru nic nového nečekejte. V mnoha případech to ale úplně stačí. Dnes už je totiž možné díky existenci moderních enginů vytvářet podstatně větší a detailnější kola než jsou ta v původní hře. Je dobrým zvykem, že u každé modifikace je přiložen tex?ák s návodem na spuštění. Pro dodatky ve formě samostatných souborů bsp platí toto pravidlo: Soubory nahrajte do adresáře Quake1id1maps. Pokud je k dané úrovni vytvořen soubor s informacemi o barevných nebo dynamických světlech (přípony lit/rtlights) tak je nahrajte do stejného adresáře. Po spuštění hry napiště v konzoli příkaz map a název souboru s novou úrovní bez koncovky. Toto je universální příkaz pro všechny enginy. Funguje vždy, i pro spuštění libovolného levelu původní hry ? např. map e1m8 spustí tajné kolo z první epizody.
Větší modifikace, obsahující nové nepřátele, zbraně, modely atd.. bývají většinou v podobě pak souborů, případně v zipu najdete více různorodých souborů, vlastní adresáře. Pro tyto mody vytvořte v Quake1 nový adresář na úrovni složky id1 a modifikaci nahrajte do něj. V archivu quaddicted.com je u každé modifikace znovu napsaný návod a pokud jde o nějakou výjimku, tak je uvedena i s řešením. Modifikace v samostatných adresářích se spouštějí při startu hry parametrem ?game a název adresáře s modifikací. Toto platí pro všechny enginy. Darkplaces má navíc v menu možnost aktivovat jednotlivé modifikace přímo přes seznam dostupných modifikací.
To nejlepší ke Quake1
Ke hře vyšly 2 oficiální misson packy - Scourge Of Armagon a Dissolution Of Eternity. Oba jsou dobré, určitě je zkuste, ale na netu najdete i lepší a zadarmo.
Nehahra
Podle mě nejlepší modifikace pro Q1. Mnoho nových kol, nepřátel, vylepšená AI (nepřátelé mají lepší zbraně, uhýbají..), příběh vysvětlující návaznost Nehahra na původní hru a ještě mnohem víc. K Nehahra vyšlo dokonce několik dalších rozšíření a tyto modifikace vyžadují nainstalovaný mod Nehahra, protože využívají jeho funkce (např. [url=http://tertiary.planetquake.gamespy.com/][color=red]The Tides Of War[/color][/url]). Potřebné info i s návodem jak dodatek do adresáře s Nehahra přidat nejdete vždy v přiloženém txt. Nehahra funguje pouze s enginem přiloženým v instalaci (nehahra.exe) nebo s Darkplaces (co nejnovější verzi ? ty starší měly s Nehahra problémy). S Darkplaces vypadá mnohem lépe, protože nehahra.exe je vlastně jenom lehce upravenej qlquake. Spouští se parametrem darkplaces.exe ?nehahra (tedy NE ?game nehahra, a pokud jej stejně použijete, tak se modifikce sice spustí, ale nebude správně fungovat). Na homepage si můžete také stáhnout 4hodinový film udělaný pomocí nahraných dem v enginu Q1 a ten vysvětluje o co v modu Nehahra a v celém Quake1 jde. Celkové hodnocení Nehahra je tak 15 bodů na stupnici 0-10.

Tohle jméno nepatří žádné modifikaci, ale autorovi mnoha úrovní do Q1/2 a dalších her. Pokud si v archivu [url=http://www.quaddicted.com/spmaps.html][color=red]www.quaddicted.com[/color][/url] seřadíte všechny modifikace podle jména tvůrce, najdete jeho úrovně a podíváte na hodnocení, bude vám to jasné. Nemá smysl je tady vypisovat. Shaun Ross byl téměř 7 let mimo Quake komunitu, ale zase se vynořil během letošního Qexpa. Můžeme se těšit na další kvalitní kousek, protože všechno co pro (nejen Q1) vytvořil patří ke špičce. Další mnohalevelová záležitost. Rozsahem je to úctyhodné dílko, kvalita úrovní je dobrá, ale na ty nejlepeší kousky to podle mě nemá. Nicnémě nejvyšší hodnocení na serveru quaddicted možná znamená, že chyba je jen ve mně. Autoři dokonce složili k Travail speciální soundtrack. Rozhodně stojí za vyzkoušení. [b]Update:[/b] zkusil jsem Travail znovu a hluboce se omlouvám tvůrcům za své dřívější hodnocení. Je pravda, že úvodní úrovně první epizody mě moc nenadchly. Ale tentokrát jsem se nenechal odradit a hrál dál. Druhá polovina 1. epizody už je herně úplně jinde a další epizoda (ke které jsem dřív asi vůbec nedošel) mě dostala totálně. Mít klobouk tak ho smekám.

Tohle je zvláštní modifikace. Původně neobsahovala žádné úrovně (dnes už zahrnuje přepracované a rozšířené verze prvních dvou úrovní z Q1) a vznikla jako doplňkový pack ke Quake1. Tento pack obsahoval nové nepřátele, umožnil maperům vkládat do nových úrovní funkce, které Q1 původně neuměl. Za vývojem stojí skupina maperů, která si sama vytvořila modifikaci tak, aby jim umožnila vytvářet zajímavější úrovně a pak dali volně k dispozici zdrojáky, aby je mohli využívat i další zájemci. Do dnešní doby vzniklo poměrně dost úrovní, které ke svému chodu Quoth vyžadují (je to vždy uvedeno v manuálu). Tohle je ona pověstná třešnička na dortu. Každá z těchto modifikací obsahuje pouze jeden level, ale nejde o jen tak nějaké úrovně. Tyto dva levely jsou ty nejlepší co kdy ke Quake1 vzniklo. To samo jsem sice napsal i u Nehahra a Soul of Evil ? tam jsem ale vzhledem k rozsahu a celkové kvalitě neměl jinou možnost. Zde stačily autorovi k získání absolutního prvenství jen dvě úrovně.
